Miss Neon

Logline: In a southern Chinese factory town, two inseparable girls, Anke and Yun, share the same dream of becoming “Miss Neon” in their dull gray world. Anke longs to be closer to her best friend, but their pursuit of color and freedom ultimately pushes them further apart.

Bio: Rong is a writer-director based in New York, originally from China. She is currently pursuing her MFA in the Graduate Film program at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Her films explore delicate emotional narratives, women’s experiences, and the hidden yet subtle connections between people in society. Drawing from her personal background and cross-cultural perspective, Rong focuses on stories that balance intimacy with broader social realities. As a director with a cinematography background, she combines technical precision with a sensitivity to performance, creating films that are visually striking while deeply rooted in character and emotion.
