Sarvin Shakib

Raghs (Dance)

Logline: A single diaspora Iranian man seeks connection and belonging at a lively family & friends party.

Sarvin Shakib is an Iranian-British filmmaker, raised between Tehran and London. Shaped by the dualities of her upbringing, she continues to be fascinated by the nuances of cultural clashes, identity crises and the co-existence of parallel realities for those who belong to more than one place. Sarvin’s work focuses on immigration, navigating the ache of longing for home and the ways we seek to heal and belong after displacement. A passionate advocate for the power of film to cultivate empathy and celebrate life’s joyful moments, Sarvin draws on her background in psychology, holding a First-Class Bachelor’s degree and prior professional experience, to amplify stories that humanize Iranians. She is currently a candidate in the Graduate Film program at NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
